| The band formed in October 2001 when Neil and Westy's old band split up due to differences in musical taste. Neil knew Tom from bmx riding and had jammed with him a few times before. As well as playing guitar Tom was also a good singer so seemed to fit the role needed by the band. For a while Tom, Westy and Neil played mainly covers, having decided to scrap all the old bands songs. After a few practices Tom had written a couple of songs and the band started working on their own material. A few months later the name 'Snatchback' was decided for their first gig at the Boardwalk. In August 2002 they headed to 2fly studios to record the EP 'from the bin.' It featured five of the bands first songs. With a demo available to buy at gigs people in the local scene began to pay more attention to the band. Live performances also continued to develop; Snatchback, play incredibly well. They have great songs, such as the hard-hitting opener Misconception. Its safe to say that Snatchback deserve to be successful. Their audience gets bigger each time they play, word is getting round. Be sure to check them out next time. By April 2003 the band decided to record another demo to show their progress over the year. Four tracks including two brand new ones were recorded at Interstellar Sandwich studio. Feedback from the demo was encouraging; This Pennines crew have plenty going for them. They keep all songs short, sharp and energetic and standout track 'gone fishing' is catchy as hell with textbook 'hey heys' in the chorus. 'Every Duck' was played on the Monday Night lockup show on Radio 1.. The band continued to play gigs and by the end of 2003 they had played new places including Chesterfield and Nottingham. |
